Can you be any more specific about the condition under which it freezes? Does it happen on any of the samples that come with MediaLab? Are there a large number of items in you experiment? Do you use videos? And which version of 2008.1 do you have--can you check? i.e., 2008.1.x. If it's an early release of v2008.1, the latest version may be all you need.
Kwise1,
I read in another post on this issue that you are using 2008.1.33, is that correct? I ask because the final release of 2008.1.33 was 2008.1.33e and the "e" is not detectable from looking at the version of MediaLab from the splash screen or the "About MediaLab" option on the help menu. The best way to tell what version you have is to look for a version of "evideo.ocx" which should be located in one of your windows system folders. If you have version 1.19 then you most likely have 2008.1.33e installed. If it is anything prior to 1.19 then, I would suggest downloading and installing 2008.1.33e from the main download page. That has resolved most of the outstanding issue with v2008. The only remaining bug I know of that will cause a freeze is that under some circumstances, you can get a lock-up if you are using "back-videos" and the user continues to the next item before they have completed.
OK thanks for this reply. Yes, I am using 2008.1.33, but I did not check whether the "e" was showing, so I do not know offhand (not in office right now). If not, I'll download the e version and see if that helps.
As for details, my questionnaire had no stimuli at all - no videos, no nothing. It was just 97 questions. And usually around halfway through, it would freeze up. But only for some people - it didn't happen all the time. But it seemed to be happening more frequently.
If I download the e version, will the survey I created transfer over? That is, I do not have to recreate my survey, do I?
Yes it will transfer fine. v2010 fixes the freezing issues MediaLab v2008 was having in some cases on Windows 7. But if you want to try 2008.1.33e, it could be worth giving it a shot. It can be downloaded from www.empirisoft.com/download_old.aspx.
