The convenience
of
a standard keyboard
is finally available with the speed and accuracy of a custom made button
box. We have developed a circuit board and
chip that can be used to scan and report activity in a
top quality standard keyboard with almost no delay (~900 microseconds).
We take one of
the best made keyboards available and upgrade its internal electronics. What you'll receive
is one of the finest keyboards on the market that also happens
to be as fast and reliable as any custom button box you can buy
today.
To house our high precision
electronics, we currently use top quality Apple USB
keyboards. They work perfectly with PCs and
Macs (OS 10.4 or later). They are they beautifully designed, very quiet, and provide a
nice tactile feedback. The standard layout is uncluttered and lends itself perfectly to laboratory research.
The DirectIN keyboard will appear automatically as a
standard keyboard when connected to any computer via regular USB or
USB2. There are no settings to adjust or drivers to configure.
Once the included USB cable is connected to the computer, the system is
ready. Your existing experiments will run as they always have but
with virtually no timing error contributed by the keyboard. Please
let us know if you have any questions.
- Note that we are not keyboard resellers. We charge only for the
modification of keyboards such that they can reliably get keystroke
data to your computer in under 1 millisecond. Consequently, 100% of the
cost of the DirectIN PCB v2020 Keyboard is for the
installation of Empirisoft's proprietary DirectIN Printed Circuit
Board (PCB) . The origional keyboards we will modify
are provided to you at no additional charge.
- Keyboards should operate properly on all
computers when connected via USB1 or USB2 on Microsoft
Windows (all versions) or Mac Operating System (v10.4 or
later).
- Keyboards should work properly with virtually all
software as they will appear to the computer as regular keyboards.
- Please allow up to 2-3 weeks for
delivery, especially for large orders.
- Keyboards typically ship via UPS ground. An estimated shipping cost
will be added to the invoice.
- Academic and non-profit institutions are typically tax-exempt
- Payment for hardware needs to be received before we can
assemble and ship the units.
- DirectIN PCB v2020 Keyboards come with a full one year parts and
service warranty.
