Input files not working with certain style files? (case 17788)

    Hi there,

I am running a modified Stroop task where participants receive one of two background colors. To accomplish this, I simply created two style files (one with a black background and the other with a white background) and put these files in different folders with the accompanying input file. The input files are identical in every respect but their names. I programmed the task to require a correct response before continuing.

When I run the file with the black-background style file, all works as it should. When I try to run the file with the white-background style file, however, I do not have to enter a correct response to continue; I can press any key listed in the input file. The input files are literally identical and the style files are identical with the exception of a few colors. (I am also having this issue with a practice trial but can fix that on my own once I know what's wrong.) Any ideas on how to fix this? All files are attached.

    Thanks!

Try the suggestions at this other forum thread: http://www.empirisoft.com/support/sh...ite+background.

Also, what version of DirectRT do you use? You can find the full version number-v.20xx.x.xxx-by opening DirectRT and selecting Help>About DirectRT from the main toolbar.

I tried adjusting the resolution (tried changing my screen's to the style file's and vice versa) and changing the color bit depth, but no dice... even when I try both at the same time. I'm currently running 2012.4.0.153, so I will try the newer version and see if that helps.

    Thanks!

Please let me know what happens when you try the 2012.1.166 version of DirectRT.

I installed the newest version of DirectRT (v2014.1.111) and it's still not working, even when I try adjusting my screen's resolution and switching to 16-bit color. Were you able to replicate the problem on your end?

Finally got it to work! Making a single style file with all the relevant styles (e.g. 1-9 for black backgrounds and 10-18 for white backgrounds) and putting both input files in the same folder seemed to do the trick. It was important for the incorrect.txt file to be moved up to the same folder as the input and style files as well. I did have to adjust the resolution of the style file to 1280x720 (from 1024x768) to get the white background to actually display as white, but your mileage may vary. I can provide an example if anyone has this issue in the future... definitely a learning experience!

Thanks again for all your help, Jason!
