    David,

Did you want the string of numbers to stay on screen or disappear when the participants pressed keys?

Similarly to an online cognitive test, a string shuold consist of X amount of digits apearing sequencially in intervals of 1 second. Once the last digit of a string fades (after also being presented for 1 second only) the participants may enter their answer.

The digits should appear as participants clicked them for self monitoring. After two trials of the same string length the next couple strings will include an additional digit (starting with 2 strings of 2 digits and eventually reaching 2 strings of 7 digits).

    Thank you for you help

Could you please elaborate more on what you mean by "as participants clicked them for self monitoring?" I thought you were looking for participants to type the answers as open-ended responses from your first post, but your more recent post makes it sounds like you wanted to use the mouse for participant responses. Please forgive all the questions, but I just want to make sure that I understand the key aspects of your task so as to give you the best information about what DirectRT can do.
