    Hi Jennifer!

Are you experiencing this problem with just the .que files or also with the .exp files?

Either way, the first thing is to make sure that you are using the latest version of, MediaLab version 2012.4.133. You can check by opening MediaLab and selecting Help>About MediaLab from the menu bar. If you need to install a copy of it, please go to http://empirisoft.com/download_old.aspx.

    Hi Jason,

The error only occurs with .que files, not experiment files. I am running the 2012. 4.133 version, and I just reinstalled it to be sure that there was no error with the program itself.

    I'm at a loss...

    Thanks,
    Jennifer

Sorry that I didn't reply sooner. Your last post from September 3 did not register in my system for some reason.

I talked with a programmer about your problem and we'd like for you to check a setting on your computer for us:

    1) Click on the Start button

    2) Type Regedit into the search box and open the Regedit.exe program; it should have the same green cube icon as any other .exe file MediaLab uses.

    3) Tell us if the contents of these two folders are the same. If they are different, let us know what is different and whether it is in the .que or .exp folder:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Explorer\FileExts\.exp\OpenWithProgids

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Explorer\FileExts\.que\OpenWithProgids

    A-ha!

Jason, the .que folder is missing this file that is in the .exp folder: MediaLab.Experiment, Type: REG_NONE (zero-length binary value).

Please let me know how to proceed.

    Thanks,
    Jennifer

    Jennifer.

When you are in the folder at HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Explorer\FileExts\.que\OpenWithProgids, right click in the larger window to the right, select New>Binary Value, and name it MediaLab.Questionnaire. Close regedit.exe and try double-clicking .que file to see if it opens in the Experiment Editor.

    Hi Jason,

That didn't solve the problem. I will note, though, that I see another file in the .que/openwithprogids file, which is "SMSdatafile" (also a binary value). Could that be interfering with it in some way?
