You could do that through the use of complex skips as described in the Advanced Features in the user's guide. You can have Excel set the skipto value of any question to its own variable name. This prevents a subject from continuing. You could have Excel check the response against previous responses and only if it's different would it then remove the skipto value. The most challenging part in all this would be coming up with the conditional logic in Excel for comparing one fill in the blank to the other five.

Thanks, that's a good suggestion. Would there be any way to make that work if the variables were presented in random order? Could I use the +1 skip value like you mentioned in my other thread to skip to the next question?
