Style file not to be found! (case 11273)

    Hello,

Since getting a study up and running, it seems that the specific style file I was using - which was located locally where the other files are - disappeared. What's weird though is that the tasks are running as normal, which makes me think that the style specifications are still being called on. But, I can't seem to find that particular style file anywhere on the computer.

Has anyone come across such a problem?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Nick

What version of DirectRT are you using (e.g., ver.20xx.x.xxx)? Do you have all of the files associated with the DirectRT portion of your study (e.g., the input files, the sytle files, the stimulus materials) in their own folder?

    I'm using v2012.4.160.

Each task has its own folder with the appropriate files. Each are running perfectly fine, but the style files aren't in those file locations - almost as if they have disappeared; and yet, they are still 'somewhere' because they are being called on in the tasks. I need to tweak the timing of one of the styles, which is why I need to find it. I've searched the computer up and down with no luck

How many different styles files do you have on that machine right now, especially beyond the default one in the DirectRT folder? I agree that your input file uses some styles file; the question is to figure out which one. That way, you could conceivably add new rows to it and change the style numbers in your input file to achieve your desired effect.

    Hi Jason,

Thanks for the help. I figured it out. The computer I'm using was hiding the file under a different directory.

I'm glad that you solved the problem. Was you machine renaming your Styles file, or did it just move it to a different location?

It was renaming the files and the directory.

That is odd to hear the Styles file was getting renamed and reassigned. Did you change the name or any other properties of the Styles file you used in your research?

Not that I know of. Come to think of it though, we have multiple studies running at once, presumably all using their own properties and style files; so it's possible that another experimenter mixed them up...? Not sure why else this would have happened.

On another note, I posted another thread related to the timing of a stimulus appearing on screen. I hope it's okay if I mention it here since I have you in discussion. See below:

I'm using a Flanker task that times out at 450ms at which point, subjects receive an error message and move on to the next trial. What I would like, but can't seem to figure out, is to have the stimuli on the screen appear for 250ms and disappear afterwards to a blank screen (giving participants 200ms still to repsond: 450-250ms). Right now, it seems the stim have to remain on screen until the eventual time out.

    Thanks, Jason.
