Have you tried seeing what happens if you change the values of the Back and Colour fields in styles 1 and 4 of the StyleFile to 0?

The screen still flashes but now it flashes to a black screen instead of a white screen.
We are having other issues with DirectRT, so we will move the stimulus question to the troubleshooting thread.
Take a look at this forum thread:

The link gives me a 404 error
I've tried a few other options and talked to a programmer. You will see a flicker anytime that you have more than one row in a DirectRT input file. Whenever one trial ends in DirectRT, it then compiles all of the stimuli in the next trial before moving on to it. Thus, a brief flash to accompany this set up is inherent to how DirectRT works.
That being said, you may want to consider if setting up your input file so that all of your stimuli appeared in a single row may serve your purposes. After DirectRT loads all of the stimuli for that single trial, it may prevent any flicker from happening between presentation of stimuli.

Thanks for following up. Putting 300+ stimuli, with each stimulus requiring a response, on the same row is not an option for us. We decided to remove all of the details from the background and go with a solid color background. While not as interesting for kid participants, it did take care of the flickering. Thanks again.
