Using GamePad for reaction times in DirectRT

    Hi all, hope all's well.

I am trying to define two acceptable responses (for ''yes'' and ''no'') for a typical lexical decision task (deciding what the participant is reading in each trial is a word or not) using a logitech gamepad. Unfortunately, it seems to me that the range of buttons that the DirectRT software can recognize for a joystick is 3 (button 1-2-3), while the gamepad I'm using has 8, and it only makes sense to use buttons 5 and 6 for the two responses (anatomically speaking, buttons 5 and 6 are much easier to use with one's left- and right-hand-index, respectively). Is there any way I could recalibrate the gamepad so as to have buttons 5 and 6 renamed as 1/2/3? Alternatively, is there a way to have the DirectRT software recognize buttons 5 and 6, i.e., to allow me to define these responses in the csv file? The only other option I could imagine would be for me to find an ''rt:any'' command in defining the ''time'' value that could also encompass joystick buttons. I can see that the ''rt:any'' value doesn't. Does anyone know another value?

    many thanks for your time

    Best

Ah ok, I think the thread from 2006 was of much help.

Many thanks to AaronNewman and, of course, jarvis24
