Announcement of new v2010 updates, feature additions and bug fixes will be regularly posted here. Subscribing to this thread will give you automatic email notification when something changes here.

Feature requests can be posted here (and we do read them!)

Finally, if you are looking for specific version information regarding past releases of DirectRT, see these links for specific versions:

    • Full 32 bit and 64 bit support
    • Now compatible with Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7
    • Image support added for .PNG, .JPG, .GIF, and .TGA files -- .BMP files are still the fastest to use

    • Audio and video files now have improved functionality and more compatibility with DirectRT
    • Now allows up to 20 video files to be played simultaneously as stimuli
    • Updated support for microphones now allows for the amplitude of any incoming sound to be analyzed and tested for loudness to more
    • accurately execute RTs and record files
    • Functionality added in for the continuous tracking of mouse, keyboard, and joystick data in 10 ms intervals
    • Can now track multiple keys presses during a single stimulus
    • Stimuli can now move in a vector between multiple specified points
    • Using point path files allows for complex movement patterns among specified stimuli
    • New parsing algorithms allow for large experiments to be more quickly analyzed and loaded
    • Selection support for multiple peripherals (e.g., keyboards, mice, joysticks) of the same type found
    • Updated interfaces add-in new functionality to the software while maintaining the same look and feel of our previous versions
    • Select to now launch the software in a new mode that enables the main window to fill up the entire region of your monitor
    • Windowed mode now allows for experiments to be run in an adjustable window size, rather than in full-screen
    • Software updates can now be downloaded directly from the software - updates are released periodically to upgrade code and ensure stability as well as performance. Avoids having to uninstall and reinstall to get latest features and updates.
    • Define, reuse, and manipulate multiple randomly generated variables within your experiment using new functions for random values
    • Our new error-parsing system allows for input-errors to be noticed more accurately so that any non-compliant experiments can be more quickly fixed
    • Skips and jumps now have the ability to go both forward and backwards
    • Define the opacity of an image using the new opacity command
    New Features Near Completion
    • Z coordinates can now be specified, allowing for stimuli to appear further away than its default size
    • Stimuli can now be forever present, regardless of the current trial (e.g., a background image that is always visible).
    • System and data variables can now be integrated into your experiment at run-time using '<' and '>'
    • Utilize new special keys (as found in MediaLab) to move through your experiment during the design stage
New Features (Possibly!) Ready This Spring
    • Run experiments online using our new online experiment hosting service
    • Take snapshots or record videos using a webcam during the process of an experiment
    • Will be possible to embed HTML items and other web objects as stimuli
    • Advanced experiments allow for excel functions to be accessed and used directly within an experiment.
