    Displaying RT data during/after experiment

As part of a current experiment, I'd like to be able to provide feedback to participants about how fast they were at the end of their session. Ideally, I'd prefer to display their average reaction time on the final screen, but I'd be content to just display the total time for the experiment as well. Can anyone think of a way to do it? Maybe using a meta command?

(The point of this is to allow RAs to quickly ascertain roughly how fast participants are going without having to open another program.)

    MP42,

Not yet (as of the first release of v2010), at least not as a built in function. It would be possible but only as a workaround. You could create an excel file that opens the subject's .csv data file and runs the desired calculations on it using macros (fun huh?). You could then just open the Excel file to see the info you need. If clicking on that is a problem, you could run the DirectRT session and then Excel (an EXE item) from within MediaLab. ML could handle running the DirectRT session and then automatically launch excel with desired file & score macros. Or even PowerPoint for that matter if you'd like it to look very nice. The effort of course would be in creating the macro that reads in the data from the csv file and calculates the values you need. Hopefully this will be a feature built into DirectRT at some point during the current v2010 release.

Thanks for the information, jarvis -- I'll look into the Excel macro route.

Great. If you are able to make it work, please let me know--it would be great to get a posted sample of something like that. Or, at least, to know that it can be done.
