    Quick response file question

We are running v.2008 and our questionnaires have complex skip patterns. Recently our lab purchased new netbooks and we would like to run our assessments from them. The netbooks only have an excel viewer, not the whole excel program and our assessments don't run. I think that we have to purchase the real excel program for them to work. Is this true? I need more than just my say so before we can spend the money.

    Thanks.

I don't think the Excel viewer has the capacity to run the real-time calculations from the responses.xls file that are required for complex skips and other advanced features. Maybe someone else can jump in here if they have experience with the viewer only configuration but that's my best guess. You might also google "excel viewer calculations" and the like. It's also unlikely I think that another program such as MediaLab would be granted access to the goings on of the viewer as opposed to being granted access to Excel itself. Maybe there is an evaluation version you could try from Microsoft before you buy it? Either way, I'd be curious to know how it turns out and what you learn!
