If you log on to Windows as an administrator and THEN try running
it, does the problem go away? Are you running this off a network drive?
I'm still have this problem. I was never logged on as an administrator and didn't previously have this problem...
the error message was due to a full memory stick...
Ahhh, good to know, thanks for the update.

Another case:
Did you confirm read/write access? An easy way to tell if that's it is to run it as an Admin--if it then works, the trouble is usually read/write permission. Can you try a second machine to see if the error replicates? When I run the sample1 data file according to the online tutorial, I get this error message 3050 couldn't lock file.
Once the permissions were changed on the Media Lab folder, the application functioned as expected.
