    Error message (text/numerical variables) after participant

    Hi Empirisoft,

    I contacted you a couple of weeks ago regarding a message popping up after end of session;
    "variable XXX is a string but is stored in the SPSS-fiel as numeric. It will be converted to a number to match the existing file. Non-numerical characters may be lost in the process".

    Last time a colleague of mine suggested renaming the file (no spaces) and the messaged disappeared. We are now doing a second round of data collection and, in spite of new name, the messages appear. They indicate different number of variables each time. The variables have been checked and all look in order.
    1. How do I get rid of the messages ASAP (data collection starting Monday morning)?
    2. If not possible to get rid of, how can I be sure this does not endanger my data?
    Thank you in advance,

    Liselott Pettersson

    Liselott - Have you tried backing up your data, deleting the data folder, and running the experiment again? Make sure you select to have the value stored as text rather than numeric.
