    Posting URLs in MediaLab 2004

    [edited by moderator]
    Hi,

I cannot get MediaLab to display the URL http://psyc.queensu.ca/~rodlab/Descriptions5/index.html. I have placed a form online and have a handler that catches the data and writes it to a data file. I know this online form works, as I have been using it for months.

Any idea what I am doing wrong? I have placed the URL in the "File Name" and the "Background" fields of my questionnaire, but I have not been able to get the URL to appear.

I am able to get other URLs to work, though. I have tried www.google.ca and http://google.ca and both work fine.

Sure. It is below. I was just testing out the method when I came across the problem, so the questionnaire file is pretty bare bones.

    Thanks for your help!

Ahh, I think I know what it might be. Not sure if MediaLab still does this, but in v2004 it converted URLS to lowercase. I do not remember the rationale. This created an issue on some servers (e.g., Unix) which are case sensitive. If this is the issue, then a simple work-around would be to convert your actual URL path to lower case. In your case this would mean changing "Descriptions5" to "descriptions5". Can't promise anything but I think that would solve it.

PS., the copy of the post you saw via email doesn't appear here because I deleted and re-wrote it.

    Worked like a charm. Thanks!
