    Appropriate Graphics Card?

    Hi all,

we are considerin to buy new computers for our lab. I have aquestion regarding the graphics requirements. In the DirectRT description it says "It is strongly recommended that systems running DirectRT have at least 256mb of memory, a graphics card with at least 16mb of video memory and a processor speed of at least 500mhz."

The computer under consideration has a NVIDIA GeForce 7050 graphics chip with a maximum of 256 MB shared video RAM. The computer has 1 GB of RAM.

I was wondering whether the shared vRAM will do it or whether we need a proper graphic card with independent RAM.

    Thanks in advance,

    Roland

It should be fine either way. To be safe though, I always recommend getting a dedicated graphics card. Many of the display problems we see with DirectRT are in some way connected to onboard chips and/or shared video memory. But again, most people experience no trouble at all--it's just often a likely cause when there is trouble.
