Reaction time data for custom HTML item

I’m trying to create a custom question which is an HTML file that I need people to read, that has a continue button on the bottom. (e.g. there is just text.) Ideally, I’d like to collect reaction time data in terms of how long people took to read the article when the person hits “continue,” but I cannot even seem to create an HTML file where the continue button even advances (which does not appear to be a problem when I create multiple questions on one page in an HTML file.) Do you have any thoughts about how I can do this? I wasn’t sure if just selecting “writeRT” for that custom question might enter the reaction time data until people hit continue. But if you have any ideas on how to get the continue bottom to advance as well, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

If I understand this correctly, you could avoid the custom item route altogether and just use an HTML item. Select HTML as the item type and list your HTML file in the file name field. Make sure "Write RT" is checked in the Details window. You should be good to go.
