Touch Screen and Stimuli Issues (case 10592)

[B]Touch Screen Issue:[/B] My computers are locking up approximately 50% of the time I run touch screen experiments. In short, the touch screen stops responding and I have to hit ctrl alt delete and then log off the computer (Esc and end task do nothing). I have replicated this on other computers: however, they all have the same hardware/software.

I have uploaded one of the experiments that keeps crashing on me. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. The experiments seem to play fine if I delete the touch.txt file and use the keypad.

[B]Stimuli Issues:[/B] I am using Gimp and Audacity to create bmp and wav files. Approximately 10-20% of my wav files will not play in DirectRT, even though I used the same method for exporting out of Audacity. All of my bmp files exported from Gimp do not play in DirectRT; thus, I have to create the files in Gimp, export to bmp, open in Paint, and re-save as a bmp. This is a tedious process and I lose my transparent backgrounds when I re-save using Paint. What is the best way to create transparent bmp's and wav files? Anyone else having issues with Gimp and Audacity?

Update: Using Audacity, I changed the settings to 16 bit PCM and exported the file as 16 bit PCM (see save settings pic); however, Audacity opens that audio file as 32-bit float (see open settings pic). I have attached the wav file, which does work for me in DirectRT, but I am wondering if this is why some of my files are not playing properly (they may actually be 32 bit float).

Regarding the touchscreen experiment malfunctioning, does the touchscreen sample in the DirectRT > Samples > 6-v2006 > touchscreen folder work on your computers? It would be really helpful to know if it works or not.

Regarding creating stimuli, DirectRT cannot use transparent images.

The touchscreen sample experiment ran fine, but my other experiments using touchscreen also run fine for the first few trials. I made a copy of the touchscreen sample experiment and copy-pasted the first 8 trials (rows 3-10) 10 times. The new 80 trial "sample" experiment crashes about 50% of the time.

Could you upload a copy of your files, including a copy of the TrackPerformance.txt file in your DirectRT folder? Also, do you see any patterns or specific messages relevant to the crash?
