How do I clear a stimulus while still allowing time for a response? (case 487)
I'm creating an 2-back task in DirectRT but I'm having some trouble figuring out some timing issues. What I'd like to do is have a stimulus presented on the screen for 500 ms, and clear the stimulus but allow an add'l 2500 ms for response time (3000 ms total response window).
I've figured out a way to do this, but I'm hoping there's a better way. Specifically, for each trial, I have two stimulus commands. First, I'm presenting a letter with a fixed response window of 500ms (using min/max style feature and the "full" code). Second, I present nothing with a fixed response window of 2500 ms (again using min/max style feature and the "full" code). This is okay, but I think the data will require some manipulation (i.e., I think I'll have to figure out whether the response occurred during the first or second part of the trial, and adjust accordingly). Is there some other way to do this that allows for the use of the "clear" and "full" commands for the same stimulus?
Please let me know if you have any tips on how to do this more effectively. Thanks!

still having timing issues
Hi there, I have tried the suggestions above but am still having some problems. Using the clear500 and full commands will clear the stimulus after 500 seconds, but does not auto advance after the full 3000ms requested in the style (3000!) -- the program appears to be waiting for a response before advancing to the next trial. I've attached the csv and style file here for you to review. Please let me know if you can figure out a way to present the stimulus for 500ms while allowing a subsequent 2500ms window with nothing presented during which participants can still respond. Thank you!
