Dear amandae19,
If you have the option, I would suggest trying to run your Stroop task through DirectRT. Take a look at these two forum threads for a little more information:

Let me know if you have any more questions!

Thank you so much!!! From the sample files, which do you suggest is the best for running the classic word-color Stroop task?
Take a look at the files in this forum thread http://www.empirisoft.com/support/showthread.php?2466-Stroop-Task-using-the-keyboard&highlight=stroop

Dear Dr. Reed, thank you so much for all of your help! I am currently trying to run the file but DirectRT stops it and says Error #6 Overflow. I have looked through the troubleshooting forums and still seem to be stumped. Do you have any suggestions on how to fix that? Thank you so much in advance!
Does the same error message appear if you try to run one or two of the files from the Samples folder that comes with DirectRT?

Yes I have tried to run 2-3 different files and I receive the same error message.
What version (e.g. ver.20xx.x.xxx) of DirectRT do you have? You can find this information by opening DirectRT and clicking on Help > About DirectRT.
Could you please also send me a copy of your computers dxdiag file? To find it, click the Start button on your desktop, type dxdiag in the search box, and click the dixdiag.exe file. Send me a copy of the .txt file it produces.

The version that I am using is Version 2006.2.0.28. Here is the dxdiag file
Thanks for this information. Seeing that you are using version 2006 on a computer running Windows 8.1 makes me curious if you would still see this error when using DirectRT ver 2012.4.164; you can find it at http://www.empirisoft.com/Download.aspx?index=4. I would suggest that you save whatever DirectRT files you have somewhere besides your computer, install a trial copy of DirectRT 2012.3.164, and see if your input files and some of the Samples folder files run without seeing the Overflow error.
