Feedback image instead of letter response?

I'm trying to set up a trial where the participant selects one of 9 images using the keys 1-9, and then overlay the selected image in a blank space elsewhere on the screen. When I use the "=" command within the same trial (e.g., "=7" on trial 7, with images named 1-9.bmp), DirectRT crashes. I don't want to use a separate trial because of the black screen that flashes between trials (no matter how brief).

Is there a way to use the feedback command and ask it to search for and display an image that matches the closed-ended response?
