How to measure THIS TIME in thought listing?

Hi, in thought-listing, does anyone know how to measure the time between the last response (thought) and the point when the participant presses 'Esc' to end thought-listing? Alternatively, anyone knows how to measure the entire time spent on a thought-listing item?

    Thank you very much!

Have you checked the record RT option in the Details window of the Questionnaire Editor for that thought listing? If so, do you not get the individual thought RTs? Or do you mean the END of the last response to when they press the ESC key? i.e., as opposed to the START of the last response. Hmm.

yes. sorry for my inaccurate phrasing, but I was looking for the RT between the end of their last thought, i.e. after they pressed "enter", to the point when they press "ESC". This is relevant to our experiment because it's an important index of a person's persistence on a task.

Thanks and hope you can guide us through!

ahh. ok, I see--because the RT for the last thought is scored as missing? One way you could deal with this is to request a time stamp at the start of the thought listing and another at the start of the next item. You could take the difference between the two stamps as the total thought listing time.

For more info on timestamps, see:

Or, you could put the thought listing question in as its own questionnaire. The question_order.csv file in the byVariableName data folder will tell you the start time of each questionnaire so you could calculate it that way also.

For more on the question_order.csv file, see:
