    Min-max values being ignored

    [edited from support email]

For some reason, DirectRT seems to be ignoring the minmax values in my GNAT and IAT style files--do you know why this would be? It was working fine and now no matter what values I use, they are ignored.

We modifed some code in Nov, 2005 that may be interfering with DirectRT's ability to read the min-max values. For more info, see:

    www.empirisoft.com/support/showthread.php?t=42

Do you happen to have version somewhere between 2006.1.12 and 2006.1.15? If so, this is very likely the problem and it is now fixed in the currently posted install package or you can just replace the single file:

    c:\directrt\executedrt.exe

with this updated version--just download it, unzip it and use it to replace the older version:

[editors note: the following updated link allows you to download the final release of v2006. For more recent versions, see http://www.empirisoft.com/download.aspx]

    http://empirisoft.com/download/drt2006/drt2006.2.28.exe

If you get a chance to try that, please let me know how it goes in terms of helping to resolve the min-max related timing issues.

    Best,
    Blair

    Minmax values being ignored

    Hello,

I have a question about DirectRT. I am trying to set the minmax values so that participants skip to the next trial after 45s. I've tried setting it at: "0-45000!", "1-45000!", "0-45000!!", and a few other values.

The link to the .zip file in this thread doesn't work.

    Thanks!

Hm. What version of the software are you running? You may be able to fix this problem by simply reinstalling with a more recent release of the version you have.

Min-max values being ignored (case 7284)

I'm having trouble getting this go-no-go task to continue after no response. Each trial needs to be a fixed total of 2250ms (the stimulus is presented for 750ms with an extra 1500ms for responding). The participants are allowed to respond using the spacebar at any point during the trial's 2250ms.

    Hi kanichols2!

I took a look at your documents but could not open the styles .drt file that you uploaded; it contained no values. Could you please try uploading it again to the fourm? If that doesn't work, please attempt to send the file directly to me at support@empirisoft.com.

    Cheers.

    Jason,

I appreciate you taking a look at my files. If there's still a problem opening the style .drt file, I'll email it to you.

Can you please briefly describe the go/no go task you are trying to build? That is, what kind of action are particpants supposed to take for the red and green circles? I got all your files and they run on my machine, but knowing some context would help me troubleshoot.

    Thanks!

For this go/no-go task, we want participants to respond by pressing the space bar when presented with the green circle. Meanwhile, participants are supposed to refrain from making any button presses (no response) when presented with the red circle. However, if participants press the spacebar during a red circle trial, the response should still be recorded.

Is any message or warning supposed to show up if the space bar is pressed when the red circle shows up and/or if no key is pressed if the green circle shows up?

The participants shouldn't receive any feedback for incorrect responses.

Ignored max value for go/no-go task trials

I am creating a go/no-go task and am having some trouble getting it to work correctly.

The task is 10 randomized trials long with each trial being a fixed total of 2250ms. For each trial, the stimulus is presented for 750ms with an additional 1500ms of blank screen for responding. The participants are allowed to respond to the stimulus at any point during the trial's 2250ms. When presented with the green circle stimulus, participants are supposed to respond by pressing the spacebar. Should they not make any response, the trial should auto continue after the 2250ms have elapsed. When presented with the red circle stimulus, the participants are supposed to refrain from pressing the spacebar. However, if participants mistakenly press the spacebar during a red circle trial, the reaction time should still be recorded. The participants shouldn't receive any feedback for incorrect responses.

The problem I am having is that the trials don't auto continue when there is no response and the 2250ms have elapsed. In the hypothetical circumstance that a participant makes no responses, the task should continue on by itself through all 10 trials. However, it is not running that way for some reason that I can't figure out. I've posted this issue before and received some help, but so far no solution has been found.

    I appreciate any help.

    Dear kanichols,

I ran the Dr. Montgomery.csv file and its corresponding style file. It seemed to do exactly what you wanted it to, based on your most recent post. I've attached a data file from a DirectRT v.2012 session in which I ran those files but did not press any keys. Save for the 4 milliseconds due to my computer, the data file seems to reflect everything you were looking for. Please take a look at it and let me know if this is what you were trying to accomplish.
