loc values don't change the location of the stimulus (case 3526)

    Hi,
I'm trying to run an input file with text files as stimuli. First, I want to display a few lines and then, by pressing the space bar, I want to add the remaining text. Until here everything works fine, it's just that even though I put the loc values for the first text to 0,.2,1 and the ones for the second part to 0,.7,0 the second part is displayed at the same location as the first part, that is at the very top of the screen, overlaying it. With another text stimulus I put the loc values to 0,.4,1 and again the text is displayed at the top of the screen, even though I'm telling DirectRt to display it 40% down, right?
I already changed alignment settings in the style file, but it doesn't change.
    what am I doing wrong?
    please help me..

    same problem

I am having this same problem - I'm wondering if the "style" alignment overrides the Loc values...I'm able to move my text around the screen vertically with the Loc values, but horizontally text is always centered....

marga - as I've been waiting for a reply from someone at Empirisoft, I've come up with a work around that's time consuming, but working for me (and I need to get this task programmed ASAP....ugh)

Instead of text files, I've been just entering the text directly into DirectRT with the ~ symbol...I'm able to move text vertically that way (with the Loc values)....to move things horizontally, I've been adding "space" characters to the left or right of my stimulus, which "pushes" my stim closer to where I'd actually like it to be on the screen...

thanks for sharing your solution, natalie. I'll try out what you suggested, although I would prefer using actual text files, since my text stimuli are quite long. But it's definitely better than nothing :-) I'm still hoping though that someone from empirisoft will answer soon....

    Any solution yet?

    Hi there,

I'm having the same issue. Has anyone heard back on this yet?

    Resolution?

I was just wondering if this issue had ever been resolved since I'm having the same problem...?

    Cheers,
    Brad

    Brad,

Are you using a text file and # in the stim field of your input file?
