    MediaLab Version 2006.2.19

Fixed a fairly rare issue with thought listings. If greater than 13 thoughts were being listed and the questionnaire containing the item was being timed at the experiment level and a responses.xls file was being used and time ran out then the item wouldn't end properly--you'd go into a feedback/prompt loop or an error would be generated. This is fixed.

Until now, when inserting a variable into subsequent question wording (e.g., Hello <name>, welcome to the experiment!), the variable being used had to be all lowercase. From 2006.1.20 on, this is no longer a constraint--any combination of upper and lower will work.

    MediaLab Version 2006.2.25

Includes v2006 User's Guide, and v2006 Help Files

Also fixed a bug causing crash when a timed questionnaire would expire while an input box from the current questionnaire was still open on the screen. Applies so far to scale items and thought listings but will be investigating further for applicability to other item types.

In scale responses, you can indicate the current variable name as a skipto value. this gets MediaLab to stay on the current question if that response is given. Previously, this only worked with mouse clicks--now it also works with button presses.

Following the first release of MediaLab v2006.2, the "select subject" feature of autostart was not working. Instead, it would completely automate the autostart and for the first subject uses "select subject" as the subject number in the data file. This is now fixed.

Support site shortcut was mistakenly added to the Windows startup folder cica v2006.2.29. To remove it go to: Start Menu > Programs > Startup and then right-click on the shortcut and select "Delete". Now fixed in this release.

In custom items, ML now automatically searches posted text data for special character codes and replaces them with the actual characters. This makes text data much more readable in the data files and makes it presentable for re-display via the responses.xls file if desired. For details, see www.empirisoft.com/support/showthread.php?p=1301

Fixed problem described in link (above) caused when one types an ampersand (&) in their text response within a custom item type.

In previous versions, text labels would show an ampersand (&) as an underscore (_), e.g., "Texas A&M" would appear as "Texas A_M". This is fixed. Note that a previous fix was to use a double ampersand (e.g., Texas A&&M).

Added a new site licensing function so that users do not need to re-download and re-install in order to take advantage of IP-based licensing. So long as the user has v2006.2.37 or later, then we can update a single file called license2006ip.dll and send that to the user. This file can replace the older version in the C:\MediaLab folder and all should be good.

Fixed issue with Experiment Editor. Help buttons were not functioning properly in some cases when the Editor was started from within MediaLab.

Experiment editor now allows you to specify an unconditional skipto value for custom items.

Fixed a bug affecting unconditional skip patterns. In v2006.2.39, we expanded the fetaure such that custom items would take advantage of unconditional skipping by placing a variable name in the first "skipto" field. Unfortunately, doing so disabled unconditional skipping for other item types such as fill-in-the-blanks, instructions, and others that allow for only a single "skipto" value. This is fixed in v2006.2.40.
