Hi,
we are currently running an experiment in which we ask participants to enter a certain word in MediaLab, using the fill-in-the-blank item type. Their answers are then automaticly saved into a .txt file. Later, we use the word in the .txt file as a stimulus in DirectRT. The language of the experiment is german, so sometimes participants enter words that contain german 'umlauts'. The problem is that these 'umlauts' cannot be displayed correctly by DirectRT, as long as the encoding of the .txt file isn't UTF-8. On our computers MediaLab by default saves the .txt using ANSI encoding, so 'umlauts' won't be displayed correctly in DirectRT. Of course we could change the encoding manually to UTF-8 for each .txt file, but that isn't really an option.
Is there a way we can change the default character encoding MediaLab uses for saving .txt files?

We are using DirectRT v2010 and MediaLab v2010.
