    error in stimulus presentation

Hi, I am running an IAT experiment using version 2008.1.0.13 of direct rt and the same problem keeps occuring when certain text files are being presented. For some reason whenever the first word from a text file is presented it comes up as ÿþ~ NAME.bmp rather than simply displaying their name. The program only seems to do this for this stimulus in particular (not their surname or gender etc) and does it every time despite the fact the stimulus is altered each time we have a new participant. Can you offer any suggestions?

Sounds like their might be some hidden code in the content of the text file. Try this--open Windows Notepad. Copy the content from your text file into Notepad and then re-save it as your stim file from there. If that doesn't fix, it, please post the input file and stim file and I'll take a look.
