Removing first items and que fixes crash--why?

    Hi,

I have been running an experiment on Medialab for the past year. Everything was fine at first and I managed to complete the experiment with up to 60 participants. But recently the program has been crashing. It often crashes at two particular points, both during the transition from a html item to the next item. The error prompt would show "Medialab Research Software has encountered a problem and needs to close".
After much trial and error, I found out that if I remove the first few items and .que from the .exp, the rest of the experiment seems to work fine. Can anyone please help me with this? I am running Medialab2008.1.20 on Windows Xp with IE7.

Here is the error signature (if it helps):
    AppName: medialab.exe
    AppVer: 2008.1.0.20
    ModName: ntdll.dll
    ModVer: 5.1.2600.3520
    Offset: 0000120e

Can you attach the first few items and que? Are you able to make it crash with JUST these items and que on their own? e.g., if you were to make a self-contained experiment out of just them?

    Hi Blair,

Can I send you the items instead? I broke the entire experiment into three parts (the first few items and .que, the experimental tasks and the last few items and .que) and each part ran smoothly.

I tried updating medialab to 2008.1.33e and did a defrag and disk cleanup of the laptop and it did not solve the problem.

Yes, please do. If can you zip the experiment folder, that would be ideal. Just send it to support@emp.. and I'll look for it if I know it's coming.
