    True versus False answers

    Hello

    I am working on a data set in which participants will see words and non-words. I want them to select the right shift key for a word, and the left shift key for a non-word. but I need the data to correctly record if the participants answered a True answer or a False answer. how do I designate this in the csv set up file?
    Thanks in advance
    Cheryl

    Cheryl;
    With a little creativity, you should be able to create an experiment file within MediaLab that integrates your requirements; however, it sounds like you may want to take a look at DirectRT, as this application is much more prepared to handle a task such as this.

    Although this thread was created in the MediaLab section of our forums, did you mean to post it in the DirectRT section?

    I would be glad to further assist (just let me know). By the way, in case it helps, here's a link to our help manuals:

    I need to have a lexical decision task in which they press the left shift key for a non-word and the right shift key for a word. My question is:
    How do I get Direct RT or Media Lab to record that it is a TRUE answer versus a FALSE answer? We ran the program and noticed that it was recording response latency times, but everything was recorded as false.

    Any suggestions or ideas of how I can reprogram this program (attached) to get the right settings?

    I'm thinking that alteration to the .CSV files may fix the problem.

    In your .CSV files you may have time columns that use the following syntax: rt:42,54 (42 is for the left shift key, and 54 is for the right shift key)
    The first key listed within this syntax will always be the correct key.

    If the right shift is the 'correct' key, change the syntax so it looks like this: rt:54,42
    If the left shift is the 'correct' key, try changing the syntax to this: rt:42,54
