    SPSS .sav file for byQuestionnaire?

    [edited by moderator]

We are in the final testing of our experiment using MediaLab v2008, and have one problem we can't seem to resolve. In the byQuestionnaire data folder, the SPSS Data Document file that appears in the byVariable folder is not created. Also, an extra question_order Excel file appears, which is absent in the byVariable folder. We can't seem to find why this is.

Everything is being stored correctly in the byVariable name folder, we just want to make sure the problems with the byQuestionnaire data folder will not cause undue headache when we begin running participants.

Any assistance on this matter would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

The SPSS .SAV file is created only for the byVariable data format. The .SAV file, in many cases, will not accept the data produced in a byQuestionnaire format--usually because of variable being repeated in different questionnaires administered in different between subject conditions. I think this is outlined in the Data FAQ in the data section of the user's guide (along with a note about the question_order file)--it's a section worth checking out if you haven't seen it yet. You can also find the data sections of the users guide online here:

Note: the other thread you had mentioned was a compatibility issue between the 2004 version and the .SAV file format.
