    Questionnaire: Save data (case 27910)

    Hello to everyone,

    im working with a questionnaire.
I noted, that the data that are filled in are saved at the end, that means ending up with the last question of the questionnaire all data filled in, are saved automatically as a outputfile. As the questionnaire that im prepairing is long, i would like that the filled in answeres (the data) could be saved not only at the end but during the questionnaire is running, that menas after each question or after each fifth question or something like this.
Just to prevent the loss of all data in case of a computer crash or any disturbance during the process.

    Is that possible?
    Thanks a lot,
    Bianca

MediaLab only creates output files once the .exp file started during a MediaLab session is run to completion. It also only records data for any .que files in the .exp file if the .exp file is run successfully to completion. Thus, you will want to make sure to test your .exp file to make sure that it runs completely and records all the expected responses correctly before using it.

    Dear Jason,

    thank you.
we have a questionnaire that it really long and takes us about 2 hours to administer and we are looking for a possibility to save or export the data in between. Is there a possibility to connect different experiments so we would get outputs in between? We do not want to manually enter the participants ID in each new part of the questionnaire to avoid mistakes. So can we finish an experiment, get the output and automatically start the next part that takes the previously entered ID automatically?

    Kind regards,
    Bianca

    Bianca,

As mentioned before, the data only gets written at the end of a MediaLab session, so there isn't any way to save responses until all of the files in the .exp file for a session are run.

Take a look at this section of the MediaLab manual describing the use of autostart files:

    http://www.empirisoft.com/medialab/h...htm#prefs_auto

If you put each .exp file in its own folder, you could try putting the same autostart file in the folder with it. This might allow you to avoid entering subject IDs, but you would still need to start a new session for each of the .exp files in their own folder.
