Participant IDs

Is there a way to permit alpha and numeric characters in the ppt ID. For example, if two projects (A and B) are running simultaneously using identical DirRT tasks, I wish to be able to have the participant IDs entered as A1, A2, A3, and B1, B2, B3. It appears that when I use letters in the ID, then I can run the task, but the data is not stored; or Icertqainly cannot locate it.
