I have followed the instructions to set the volume using item type executable with volume.exe and (c5) in the parameters field but the volume does not change. I am wondering if we need to upgrade to 2014 or something as I cannot get the volume to change for an avi movie which is called in the next line of the questionnaire.

Please also explain a bit more about your stated goal of trying to "get the volume to change for an avi movie." The use of the c parameter with the executable item you mentioned is to set a consistent volume for playing multiple media files (here in the MediaLab manual: [url]http://www.empirisoft.com/medialab/help/miscellaneous_features.htm?zoom_highlightsub=volume[/url]). Do you have multiple media files that all play at different volumes? If not, and you are trying to only play a single video file, have you tried using a Movie item type (see here in the MediaLab manual: [url]http://www.empirisoft.com/medialab/help/queitemtype.htm#movie[/url]) or using the Backvideo field in an Instruction item type (see here in the MediaLab manual: [url]http://www.empirisoft.com/medialab/help/quebackvideo.htm[/url])
